Last time we checked in, we were getting ready for the Revolution Wedding Tour. We had a great time meeting all of the vendors and guests. Here’s a snippet of the beautiful design.
We’ve been busy around the farm finishing up on our Bridal Cabin project. It is finally complete – just in time for our wedding season to kick off this weekend with Kimberly & Brandon. It has fresh brickwork, porches, stairs, landscaping, etc. We’re so excited for you to see it.
In addition to the beautiful side view of the cabin photo, Greg has captured some great shots around the farm lately. We had the pleasure of being visited by our bird buddies last week. Here they are, catching up on some gossip.
We had the privilege of having the cast and crew of “Arbor Demon,” out to the farm last year for filming. The movie is available now to rent or own on iTunes. Here’s the trailer:

We hope everyone had a great Easter! Thank you to all of our sweet family and friends for coming out to our 3rd Annual Easter Service yesterday, despite the bad weather. It was kind of cool hearing the rain on the tin roof during the service and lunch.
Since we updated last, our pavilion expansion & flex space was completed AND we got a new roof installed on the barn. We were sad to see the rusty tin go, but it was time for it to be replaced. We’re excited to break-in all the new improvements for the Spring 2016 wedding season! We hope to see you soon!

Thank you all SO MUCH for an amazing 2015! It was a great year! Even though we’re new to the wedding & event world, 2015 marked 50 YEARS for the farm! We got to celebrate with so many wonderful brides, grooms, birthday boys/girls, and students! It was a great way to ring in our 50th year. We wouldn’t have it any other way. Thank you for all your support as we continue to spread the word about The Stables at Boals Farm being event ready! Here’s to an amazing 2016. Last year, our big project was our event restrooms. This year, we’re expanding our covered pavilion area. Ground breaks on that project any day now and it’s expected to be finished by mid-February. We can’t wait to show you the progress and end result! From our family to yours, we wish you the happiest of new year’s. XOXO

Sorry it’s been a little bit since we’ve updated. A lot has been going on – which is great! Of course, the unfortunate flooding happened. Thankfully the farm held up, it was just soaked for a few days. Not all venues and homes were spared, however. Our thoughts and prayers certainly go out to all who were affected. Besides the bad weather, wedding season has been in full force, and Ashley welcomed a beautiful little addition to our family on October 9th! Overall it was a great month!
Congratulations to all of our October couples – Erika & Chelsea, Lauren & Lauren, Janette & Chris, Lynsey & Jamison, and Rachel & Matt! We are so happy we were able to be a part of your day and share in the joy of your togetherness! Thank you for allowing us to do so.
We would also like to wish some of our 2014 couples a Happy 1st Anniversary!

We have had a few calls from passersby wondering why the horses are laying & rolling in the dirt. Well, one reason is to keep cool, but there are many reasons. Here is a link to read more about it: http://www.watkinsranch.org/2013/07/17/why-do-horses-roll-in-the-dirt/ Don’t worry – it’s not a concern. They are perfectly happy and healthy.

Whenever you think of a barn/farm wedding, do you think of classy or laid back? Good news – you can have both! Just because you’re having your event at a farm does not mean you have to forfeit elegance. While a laid back barbecue with jeans & cowboy boots is always fun, it’s nice to have options. Why not bring some fancy indoor furniture outside – PIN
OR…hang some chandeliers – PIN And just because you’re at a farm, doesn’t mean you can’t wear fancy dresses with heels.

The possibilities for your outdoor event are endless. Check out more ideas here on our Pinterest Page. Don’t be afraid to branch out and try something new. You never know how it’ll turn out. It may be a rewarding surprise!

Phew! It is HOT out there! I think we’re melting. I hope you guys are staying hydrated! Despite the heat, we had a beautiful wedding this past Saturday at the farm. Melanie and Paul tied the knot on June 13, 2015. We wanted to show you some of her beautiful bridal portraits taken by Margeaux Coyne at Plant It Forward Photography. Margeaux is a school teacher who uses the proceeds from her photography business to provide gardening opportunities to her urban title 1 students. Very neat! If you love her pictures and are interested in using her for your big day, let us know. We can’t wait to see Melanie and Paul’s wedding photos – especially if they’re half as beautiful as these!
We are excited to announce that we were recently featured in Slim Pickin’s Kitchen‘s blog as one of the 10 Affordable Charleston Wedding Venues for Brides on a Budget! Yay!! Our wonderful mothers, of course – and our very own Jason & Stephanie Boals celebrated their 10th Wedding Anniversary on May 7th! (Yay! Congratulations!) In addition, our baby ducklings were big enough to be released into the pond! They grew up so fast. What a great week! P.S. How cute are Layton and Pressley (pictured below)?

– April 6, 2015 –
We hope you all had a great Easter with your family and friends. We sure did! Thank you to everyone who came out to our 2nd Annual Easter Service and Fellowship. What a beautiful day with great people – and delicious food!
– March 19, 2015 –
We have thoroughly been enjoying this beautiful weather (well, besides the rain today). It’s nice to walk the farm and take in the beauty of all the undeveloped land and precious animals. We’ll leave you with this: Life is short; time is fast; no replay; no rewind…so enjoy each moment as it comes. That being said – we hope you have a GREAT weekend!
– March 16, 2015 –
We hope you all had an amazing weekend! We are LOVING this gorgeous weather. We worked hard all weekend cleaning up leaves and grading dirt & gravel to get the farm looking like less of a construction zone. Just had to share this cute father-son picture of Jason and Layton Boals from this weekend. Layton is a future farmer in training. He loves to help dad take care of the farm. #futuregeneration
– March 9, 2015 –
We hung some art in the restrooms! We’re having fun with the final touches. We’ll be picking up mirrors today and the outside patio should be laid this week!
– March 6, 2015 –
Some cute new additions to the farm arrived yesterday! Eeeeeee! Baby Mallard Ducks – cuteness overload! 😀
– March 3, 2015 –
We had a surprise on Saturday night! A truck made its way through the front fence and into the front pond! Thankfully no horses or people were hurt during the process. Beth and Paul quickly moved all the horses out of the front pasture so they wouldn’t make their way to the road (thanks guys!). The truck was pulled from the pond and we were left with this:
No big deal! Just some damaged wood and grass. We are so very thankful that is all that happened. A new portion of the fence is going up right now, as we speak. So, when you drive by and see a portion of the fencing looks a little newer than the rest, you’ll know what happened.
On another note: Here’s an **EVENT RESTROOM UPDATE** It’s about time for hanging pictures and laying the patio!
– February 23, 2015 –
It’s a rainy and foggy day on the farm, today…still beautiful, though! There’s still a ways to go before they’re complete, but we wanted to give you a quick **Event Restroom Progress Update** Have a GREAT week!

With getting things ready for the Southern Bridal Show next month and the restroom construction underway, we’re pretty well occupied. We’re lovin’ it! If only the cold would go away and spring would come along… We could spend some time with beautiful brides & handsome grooms and we would be 100% good-to-go. But, regardless of the weather, life on the farm is still amazing.
In all the hectic-ness, we forgot to CONGRATULATE you, who got engaged over the holidays! (What were we thinking?!) So, we’ll say it now: CONGRATULATIONS new fiance’s!! We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Ours was amazing. We spent some time with great family & friends and shared some laughter & love. We wouldn’t have wanted to spend it any other way.
Today being New Year’s Eve, we just wanted to take a moment to reflect on 2014:
It was a great year! We worked really hard on the farm making everything look the way we wanted it to for our “big debut” in the wedding and event world. This was totally new for us. We were scared and excited all at the same time! It’s been a year of learning and we’re happily taking it all in. We have loved every aspect of our new journey. From amazing vendors, to sweet brides & grooms, to great movie makers, we have thoroughly enjoyed meeting and working will all of you! It’s a privilege we never would have had without this venture.
After all, the main reason we do this is to preserve the family farm and be able share it with our community well into the future. Everything around us has grown so much over the years; we want our little piece of heaven to remain serene and undeveloped for all of us to enjoy. We have been able to share it with so many of you this year, and we hope that more of the community will get to enjoy it in 2015. Nothing pleases us more than to see the place where we lived and grew up, bring joy to others. That’s what it’s all about!
We had so many projects around the farm this year. The Pavilion, which used to be a tractor shed – full of dirt, four wheelers, and tractors, is now a beautiful open-air reception area! Our old lumber building had a face lift, as well, to include a prep kitchen for caterers. Even our bridal cabin evolved! We love seeing these changes. We don’t think of them as “new” things; it’s all lumber we have had or used in various buildings for years. It’s just re-purposed in a way that makes us feel like it’s the way it always should have been. It feels like the farm is finally getting the makeover it always deserved. It’s been good to us, now it’s time for us to be good to it.
We’ve already started construction on the new event restrooms and we are ecstatic to reveal those in early 2015! We will share pictures as soon as they are complete. We’ll also be a part of the Southern Bridal Show on February 15th at the Charleston Area Convention Center – we’d love to see you there! Other than that, we don’t know what’s in store for 2015. I know we’ll have some gorgeous weddings! We imagine everything else with breathtaking, too, with people like you.
Thank you for making our 2014 FANTASTIC! We hope you have a Happy New Year and may you be healthy, wealthy, and wise in 2015!

We had the opportunity to hang out with the folks at Rick Dean Photography about a month ago, thanks to Monique at Semper Signature Events. We had a BLAST and really hope to work with them soon. Please check out their website if you get a chance – beautiful photography and really great people.
Also, if you are in need of a wedding planner, full wedding process or just day of, we highly recommend Monique at Semper Signature Events. She has worked at the farm before and knows her stuff! She’s been in the business for 20 years – and she’s a sweetheart.

The Lowcountry CERT Oyster Roast and Chili Cook-off was a success! We all had a lot of fun. Everyone enjoyed delicious oysters from Sticky Fingers, homemade chili from 5 different competitors, great steals from the silent auction, and rockin’ music from Bootless. Thanks to everyone that was involved!

Winter is in the air at Boals Farm! What a perfect time of the year for an Oyster Roast! We are so excited to be the host venue for this year’s Lowcountry CERT Fundraiser – Oyster Roast and Chili Cook-Off.
If you check out their website, you will learn that CERT, or Community Emergency Response Team, is a group of volunteer citizens who are trained to assist, in their neighborhoods, for emergency and mass casualty response situations. They are trained in first response, basic medical skills, search and rescue, and incident command for natural and man-made disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes, fires, and terrorist attacks. Lowcountry CERT is the non-profit organization that raises funds to equip, train and sustain CERTs in the tri-county area.
The Oyster Roast and Chili Cook-Off this Saturday is a chance for them to raise money to keep doing the good they’re doing in the Lowcountry.
Saturday’s event will have great music by Bootless – a country/southern rock band based in Charleston, great food & a cash bar by Sticky Fingers, a silent auction, and – of course – great oysters and chili!
Tickets are only $20 in advance and $25 the day of!
We have some available, so if you are interested shoot us an e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org

There are so many amazing things on Pinterest to inspire you for your big day and many planners can be helpful in pulling off the elegant/rustic theme just right. Even if you’re not looking for a 100% rustic wedding, you can mix in other contemporary flares that work wonderfully, too.
From barrels to crystal, the possibilities for your event at The Stables is endless.
Take a look at these barrels:
And this chandelier:
That is a perfect example of taking something as raw as rusty metal, and mixing it with the class of crystal. It makes a wonderful statement. The simplicity of the barrel is great, too!
What’s so magnificent about a farm wedding is that you can dress it up, or dress it down to suit your taste.
Your groomsmen can suit-up:
Or they can relax in jeans and vests:
Your bridesmaids can wear boots and short dresses, or long dresses and heels. It’s all UP TO YOU! It’s your day! So put your stamp on it.
